Community Partner Leaders and Educators will host 40-min skills rotations throughout the day on Saturday. Each will focus on a different backcountry skill or movement. Topics range from packing the essentials to layering, and more!
This year we are welcoming an
"ALL-SAR BASECAMP"
Volunteers and leaders from various Search & Rescue Teams will be present to demonstrate behind-the-scenes actions of SAR operations and answer questions. Mountain Rescue Service will also bring rescue packs and equipment to show. We believe that the AVSAR Trailer will be on-site as well to explore.
On Saturday evening, we will hear from Joe Lentini, former Director of the EMS Climbing School, and 50-year climbing veteran who also serves as a Team Leader on the storied Mountain Rescue Service, the most technically-oriented of the SAR Teams.
We will be screening the Film:
109 Below, presented by Arc'teryx
Sunday will offer a few workshops to choose from in the morning after check-out. We will stay on premesis, and practice one or more of the skills that we learned on Saturday.
This will be an action-packed weekend that focuses on safety, risk awareness & mitigation, proper decision-making, and community-based peer-to-peer experiential learning.

Mostly, I am overwhelmed by the support and resilience each and every contributor to this event showed. We brought together leaders, educators, experts, beginners, friends, experiences, and a vibe that was unmatched and BRIGHT. We are each others’ most valuable resources. Zero participants came with friends. Each and every one of us were strangers to each other with the exception of the leadership & volunteer teams. Within literal minutes, everyone was friends. I mean MINUTES. Thank you to the Vendors & Educators that spent their Saturday under a tent in the snow to teach this community about their given skill. The feedback I’ve heard so far is that the EduStations served to save a life one day. Thank you to Nick Higgins who was the visionary and co-lead of this event. We executed a successful mission, and plan to do many more in the future. His vision came after the sudden, tragic loss of his extraordinary friend and climbing partner, Christopher "Rafiki" Roma.
